Re: Sharp PC-3000

Well a Windows 98 cd is not that hard to find, you can just download some and try them out... https://www.google.de/?gws_rd=ssl#safe=off&q=%22index+of%22+%22win98se.iso%22 If i remember right the T42 should have one RAM stick on the bottom and one under the keyboard. The one on the bottom is obvious...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

I think you will have much fun with the 2MB card. Enough for most games. Maybe even Windows 3.0 if you really delete all unnecessary files (hlp, txt, vga driver, unwanted appz, pictures, etc)... I ran Windows 3.0 from a 4MB card though. Sierra adventures are pretty enjoyable with the keyboard - at l...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Yeah the Sharp has no problems with the attribute. Wit the Thinkpad T42 you were extremely lucky. That is actually the last Notebook IBM made with support for Windows 98. I would suggest to check the amount of installed RAM. With 1GB or more Win 98 usually becomes unstable - so i would recommend to ...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Afaik Windows XP can NOT handle SRAM cards. Well it does work somehow with the "attribute" SRAM cards, but for like pretty much all "normal" SRAM cards XP just lacks the driver. I have spent much time with that myself and just gave up - defaulted to using an old "Windows 98" laptop to transfer stuff...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Like 99% of all SRAM cards should work. At least the SRAM cards in sizes of 512KB, 1MB and 2MB never had any problems in any of my palmtops (And i have nearly all from the list), The 4MB cards (Mitsubishi MelCard for example) did not work in some palmtops. I guess some rather obscure cards that are ...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

If you have the serial cable (which is unfortunately "rare") you could also hook it up with a PC via laplink or similar software. The rather non-standard connector makes it hard to build a custom one from scratch. Without the cable only SRAM cards would work. I just saw i made a mistake with the dow...

The smallest X86 UMPC

...is definitely the Fujitsu F-07c. Incredible that such a small device can run Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10... I heard even Mac OSX86 is possible...

Re: Sharp PC-3000

Yeah, the sundisk driver is on the software page:

http://www.tankraider.com/DOSPALMTOP/software.html

Just look at the point "Flash disk driver".

You'll still need to get the driver onto the palmtop - so either by serial connection transfer or copy the stuff onto an SRAM PCMCIA card.

Re: HP OmniGo 100

Yeah i guess i should add it to the list. The 100 and 120. Afaik you could not run unmodified DOS appz by default, but i think there was some GEOS tool that would let you run at least some basic stuff. Personally i think of these more like a GEOS handheld, but technically there is a DOS under the ho...
