Re: Yay! I got a Zeos Pocket PC. But Oh no! How to transfer files?

I've been thinking about it and I think I'll probably try to sell it on eBay, I didn't think it was going to be that complicated to be able to put GWbasic, Rogue and maybe a few more KBytes on it... I might try to get an HP LX200, 100 or the 1000, with far better compatibility than this Zeos. (PCMCI...

Re: Yay! I got a Zeos Pocket PC. But Oh no! How to transfer files?

No, I definitely don't want to "gamble" with a rechargeable card (wow, I'm definitely learning about old hardware here). I'm from the US. But let me think about the interface for a while. I'm having fun with my recently acquired Sharp G850VS pocket computer, so I'll have to think if I want to spend ...

Re: Yay! I got a Zeos Pocket PC. But Oh no! How to transfer files?

I'm glad I didn't purchase it. Yes, I'm definitely open to your home-made cable, because I do have an old PC with PCMCIA, but as I have never done this before, you would have to walk me through ;) How much are you asking for? Also I did find these 2 less ridiculously expensive SRAM cards, that seem ...

Re: Yay! I got a Zeos Pocket PC. But Oh no! How to transfer files?

:( I see, so my most realistic option is to try to buy a type 1 PCMCIA card from eBay... You are right, they are expensive! And that may even not be guaranteed to work because of age and compatibility issues with the source PC or the Zeos. Well, as for the option of purchasing a type 1 card, should ...

Yay! I got a Zeos Pocket PC. But Oh no! How to transfer files?

I'm very excited I got a Zeos pocket PC in pretty nice condition, but unfortunately I haven't been able to transfer any files yet, Or perhaps I should say I have not been able to make it recognize any of my Compact Flash cards with a PCMCIA adapter... I have formatted them to 32MB fat 16 and still n...

Re: Help... Looking for a 386 or 486 DOS AA palmtop to do all this:

You are so true, and I agree 99.5% I like your comparison with old cars, it is very accurate, because it related to feelings more than raw power... I do kind of collect old PCs, but I try to be as cheap as possible (to justify the urge perhaps), so I think I'll pass on the Wibrain, and I don't think...

Ha, ha ,ha. I know exactly what you mean by the day not having enough hours, I have a family too  10 Sony's!!! Wow I never heard of the Wibrain, but after "Googling it", it looks like a neat little PC, even though a few reviews speak of it as "ugly". How much would you ask for it? The battery s...

Wow you surprise me every time! You are definitely the right guy to talk to about these things, and to think I thought I was a lonely weirdo who liked old DOS computers, with nobody to understand me... But alas I'm not alone! Thank you for your OS recommendation, I will try them all when I hav...

Re: Help... Looking for a 386 or 486 DOS AA palmtop to do all this:

That's what I thought (about the Sharp 3000 series). Well, I'll keep my eyes open for a Tidalwave (or clones) and Gecko Edubook (Interesting AA-powered machine, too bad they are so scarce). Meanwhile I'll just keep using my Omnibook 425. Thank you for your advice and wisdom. Finally, can you recomme...

Re: Help... Looking for a 386 or 486 DOS AA palmtop to do all this:

Thank you for taking the time to reply. i will look into the devices you suggest, and report back when/if I get a hold of one of them. One more question though. What is your opinion on the Sharp PC 3000? lately I've seen a couple of them (over $200) and though I know they are not even 286, they seem...
